Switch TV has moved to cement its status as the go to TV channel for the youth with the acquisition of new shows which will further bolster the station’s programming lineup which has already started turning heads amongst the young turks.

The Kenya Red Cross owned TV station has in the near past been airing a promo announcing that the new shows will premiere soon but it is This is Life, a drama by award winning producer Jennifer Gatero that is expected to draw in audiences for the station.

Gatero is the producer behind Better Days and was also the co-director of Changing Times. The two shows were acquired by KTN and were instant hits with the Kenyan audience.

This is Life is a love drama told from an African perspective. It features talented actors including Blessing Lungaho (Prem), Melissa Kiplagat (New Beginnings), Faith Kibathi (Vitimbi), Kone Nohoum (Selina) among others.

Switch TV’s programming targets the youth. The station’s news bulletin is also treated lightly to make it appealing to the younger audience.

The acquisition of This is Life is likely to be a game changer for Switch TV as the show addresses challenges that the youth face creatively. The show has also been produced boldly enough to feature several explicit scenes. It is shot by Kenyan music video director Moses Osidiana.

Its quality is such that Ms Gatero had to place it as a Video on Demand (VOD) on the show’s website where you pay before you watch. Film critics have described it as a show worth paying for.

Speaking during several interviews at Y254, The Trend on NTV and K24 Ms Gatero described funding for the show as the biggest hurdle to its successful completion.

“I had to take a loan from a relative who at first did not understand how the project made business sense. Even now I am still paying for it. I am still in debt,” said Gatero in an interview with K24 on September 6, 2018.
