A Moi University student suspected of terror links has surrendered to police.

Salad Tari Gufu gave himself up in Huruma estate a day after police placed a Kshs 2 million bounty on his head over terror activities.

The student is claimed to be on the list of terrorists hiding in the Boni forest.

Authorities had circulated photographs of five men they claim are part of those planning the attacks and want the public to help them in tracing the whereabouts of the wanted men with a bounty of Ksh2 million on each of them.

The list includes Abdikadir Mohamed aka Ikrima, Mohammed Tajir Ali, Suleiman Irungu Mwangi as well as brothers Salad Tari Gufu and Gufu Tari Gufu

However, man claiming to be Salad Tari Gufu went to the social media denying he is a terrorist as claimed by police. He said he is a fourth year student at Moi University pursuing bachelors degree in the faculty of education.

“As a citizen and a student, am being suspected for a crime that I am not even capable of. My friends know me and attest to my innocence. I therefore encourage you all to spread this message of truth). SALAD WASN’T, ISN’T AND WON’T BE A TERRORIST,” he said in a Facebook post.

The government has intensified the war on terror with President Uhuru Kenyatta issuing a shoot-to-kill order after Al Shabaab abducted and killed a nephew to Public Works Permanent Secretary Maryam El Maawy who was herself rescued from the hands of the militants in Lamu.
