Samsung unveils a sleeker, cheaper Grand Prime Pro

With an eye on growing its market share in the mass market devices segment, Samsung Electronics East Africa has launched the Galaxy Grand Prime Pro (2018) 4G smartphone in the Kenyan market.

Patricia King’ori, Head of Marketing, Citizenship & PR at Samsung Electronics East Africa said the Grand Prime Pro (2018) gives Samsung Electronics an opportunity to reach out to consumers’ in the mass market segment who are looking for a device that offers functionality at an affordable price. “The performance of the devices within this segment will enable Samsung retain market leadership in the midst of growing competition from new entrants in this segment.”

The new Grand Prime Pro (2018) improves on the design of the Grand Prime Plus and J3 2016, by offering a more premium body with a curved back, reduced bezel and minimal camera protrusion. With a 5” display, the device comes with Super AMOLED technology for a more immersive viewing experience.

Both front and rear cameras on the Grand Prime Pro have an F2.2 lens and LED flash so you can comfortably take brighter and crisper photos and selfies even in low light conditions. The Front Camera also features a selfie flash that uses the screen’s brightness to illuminate the subject. It also features a clutter-free, intuitive camera interface allowing for a simplified camera experience. Simply swipe up or down to switch cameras or swipe left or right to change modes and effects. With a quick double press of the home button you can quickly access the camera app in seconds. You can also use the palm selfie feature to easily take selfies of yourself or with friends by simply waving at the camera.

With the Grand Prime Pro, Samsung Electronics has provided features that are aimed at enhancing the consumers’ mobile lifestyle;

  • Smart Wi-Fi – Save time enabling and disabling Wi-Fi. The Grand Prime Pro saves your Wi-Fi history and will automatically switch on and off when entering and exiting frequently used hotspots. Now you can enjoy seamless connectivity while reducing mobile LTE data usage when moving in and out of Wi-Fi zones.
  • Dual Messenger – Allows you to duplicate messenger apps such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Skype etc. With Dual Messenger, you can use two separate accounts for the same messenger app. For example, you might have one account for work and one for family and friends.
  • Secure Folder – Samsung’s Secure Folder is a powerful security solution that lets you create a private and fully encrypted space to store and hide content such as photos, documents and voice recording files under an additional layer of protection that only you can access.
  • Samsung Health (S-Health) – Track your fitness, nutrition, sleep and more to keep healthy
  • Memory – The Grand Prime Pro (2018) comes with 16GB internal storage, and Micro SD expansion up to 256GB.

The smartphone is available countrywide at Samsung Brand Stores and authorised dealers countrywide.
