Gospel artiste Ringtone whose real name is Alex Apoko has scoffed at legal threats by the Karen Resident’s Association over cows that he is rearing in his plot in against terms of land ownership in the leafy suburb.
The defiant artist accused the association of double standards saying that rich residents in the neighbourhood rear horses in their homes.
“Why haven’t they written to the wealthier residents who rear horses in their plots. This is an attempt to oppress the poor man,” said Ringtone in an interview with a local entertainment outlet.
In a letter to the musician, The Karen Residents Association had threatened the gospel artist with a lawsuit demanding that he relocate the over 40 cows he is rearing in his shed after residents complained over the matter.

“Please note that we are considering a legal case against you if you do not cooperate with the association’s rules and regulations,” reads the statement.
However, questions have emerged over the authenticity of the letter as it has many spelling mistakes. Also the body that represents Karen residents is known as Karen Lang’ata Residents Association (Karengata).
