Old Trafford, the England football stadium belonging to Premier League club Manchester United, has really become old. Like an abandoned house in the forest, hygiene inspectors on a visit found rats all over its premises this week, the Daily Mail reported. But what can we expect of a stadium built in 1910?
Not that though! Manchester United is the richest and most successful EPL club as of 2024. Funny, says an Arsenal fan. Anyway, the hygiene inspectors discovered mouse droppings in the field and in some sections of its corporate dwelling units, leading to a downgrade of its star ratings from four to two out of five, Mail Sport wrote.
Not those two places alone. Rodent activity was also evident in the mini shops selling food to fans, and the chief Trafford Council environmental health officer also slashed its ratings to 2/5 from 4. The UK’s Food Standards Agency rating scheme ranges from 0 (urgent improvement necessary) to 5 (very good).
An order for improvement was issued, as the club said a “robust pest-control system” was already in place at the ground and included “multiple weekly checks” of all catering areas.
Trafford Council said it was working closely with the club, so “necessary improvements” are being made.
This came very early before the oldest stadium in the Premier League, Stamford Bridge (est. 1887) report such incidences.
