Safaricom and banks, the regular top movers at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, dominated 75% of weekly turnover which rolled in at Ksh3.7 billion for the week ended June 14.
Of the Ksh3.7 billion, banks and the giant telco contributed just over Ksh2.7 billion, leaving the other 11 sectors with the remaining Ksh1 billion pool.
The week’s highest mover in terms of shares was Safaricom, transacting 53 million shares.
Safaricom’s trading was valued at Ksh1.4 billion over the five day period, representing 39.21% of the week’s traded value.
Banks managed to see a total value of Ksh1.3 billion transacted over the week which accounted for 35.78% of the week’s traded value.
Equity Group moved 15 million shares over the week with KCB Group seeing 11 million of its shares changing hands.
Equity’s trading was valued at Ksh601 million while those of KCB amounted to Ksh446 million.
At the same time, weekly trading at the bourse saw a decline in the bonds market.
Having posted Ksh13.7 billion last week, bonds lost nearly Ksh300 million to end the week at Ksh13.4 billion.

At the indices, a mixed performance saw the NSE 20 Share Index produce gains whereas the All Share and NSE 25 Share Index both slumped.
Blinking green, the NSE 20 Share index was up 6.32 points to stand at 2706.78.
The All Share Index (NASI) shed 0.35 points to settle at 150.12 with the NSE 25 Share index losing 11.08 points to settle at 3637.98.
Other Sectors
The Insurance Sector had shares worth Ksh592 million transacted which accounted for 15.83% of the week’s traded value.
Jubilee Holdings was the most actively traded counter in this sector during the week with 1.4 million shares valued at Ksh575 million at between Ksh366 and Ksh410.
The Investment Sector had shares worth Ksh68.9 million transacted which represented 1.84% of the week’s traded value.
Centum closed the week 2.26% higher, rising to Ksh34 and moving 1.9 million shares valued at Ksh68 million.
The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth Ksh232 million transacted which represented 6.20% of the week’s traded value.
E.A Breweries moved 824,000 shares valued at Ksh168 million at between Ksh203 and Ksh206.50.
B.A.T recorded a 1.82% gain to close the week at Ksh504 with shares worth Ksh61 million transacted.
