Weekly trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) shed Ksh700 million to close at Ksh3.4 billion in the week ending October 5, down from Ksh4.1 billion last week.

This comes in a week that saw a technical hitch on October 1 lead to a shorter trading period on that day resulting in a Ksh515 million plunge as compared to the previous trading session.

NSE attributed the early week delay to technical challenges experienced in a dependent system of the Automated Trading System (ATS).

Trading began at 1:20pm and closed at 4:30pm on October 1, which was a departure from the traditional 9:00 am to 3:00pm.
