NSE Extends Suspension of Trading in Umeme Ltd Shares

The suspension of trading in Umeme Ltd shares at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has been extended by 30 days to enable the company sort legal and shareholder issues.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc (NSE) today notified investors and the public that the suspension in the trading of Umeme Limited shares on the NSE has been extended to mid June 2025.

“The initial suspension, which lapsed on 12 May 2025, has been extended for a further thirty (30) calendar days to facilitate the completion of ongoing engagements, regulatory compliance, and shareholder communication,” the NSE said in a dispatch.

It said the extension is aimed at ensuring full resolution of pending matters that were highlighted during the initial suspension period.

The trading suspension  of the energy company will now remain in force until Thursday, 12 June 2025, or such other period as may be determined by the Authority. “All shareholders, investors, and the general public are advised to take note of this extension,” the NSE said.
