As part of DStv’s ongoing efforts to enhance its customers’ television viewing experience and offer them great content, MultiChoice Kenya has launched EDU TV on DStv in Kenya.
From April 2, 2020, DStv Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium subscribers will be able to watch EDU TV on Channel 316. The channel will broadcast, amongst others, classroom-based learning, and life skills programs for children of all age groups, based on the Competency-Based Kenya national curriculum.
The channel will air lessons for learners in pre-primary (ECDC), primary and secondary school levels.
“In these difficult times we are still committed to providing superior entertainment by enhancing our education scheduling to give learners more school content,” Ms Nancy Matimu, Managing Director MultiChoice Kenya, said.
“As an organization, our commitment to support the Government of Kenya as well as Kenyans during this time is unwavering as the country and the rest of the world face challenging times.”
Ms Matimu said video entertainment is a powerful way to tell stories that open minds and help people to connect to new realities “and we are happy to offer families a single platform where they can enjoy educative and entertaining content easily and conveniently.”
Dr Joel Mabonga, PhD, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) said: “As KICD, we are pleased by this timely partnership with MultiChoice Kenya that is expected to enhance effective curriculum delivery now that learners are at home. We thank MultiChoice Kenya for agreeing to disseminate and transmit programs and curriculum support materials through their video entertainment platform.”
EDU TV will broadcast 24-hours a day from Monday to Sunday. Viewers can also tune in for gospel music, documentaries, announcements, news, features, weather forecasts and Bible quotes as part of the channel line-up.
