Liberty Kenya Has Two Female Directors After Tapping Virtual HR CEO

Gladys Ogallo, founder and chief executive of Virtual HR joined the Liberty Kenya board effective July 8, becoming the second female director currently on the board.

Ogallo had also previously served as a board member of HF Group between 2014 and 2015.

“Ms Ogallo brings with her a wealth of experience in insurance, investment, telecommunications, banking and education with an emphasis on human capital management,” Liberty Kenya company secretary Caroline Kioni said.

According to the Liberty Kenya website, Ogallo becomes the second woman director joining company secretary Kioni.

The seven person board features five male directors and two females.

Previously, Susan Mboya served on the Liberty Kenya board as Chair before resigning in October 2018.

The newly appointed board member is the founder and CEO of Virtual Human Resources Services Ltd, a Human Resource consulting company which also has partnerships in South Africa.

She has over 14 years experience in the ICT sector working with Africa Online as a Training & Development Manager in charge of 9 countries in Africa and later Head of Human Resource at UUNET (now MTN Business).

Her HR career has spanned several countries including Ghana, Cote d’ivoire, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Swaziland, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania, a profile on the Virtual HR website says.

She is also the founder and director at Azizi Hair & Beauty College, an initiative aimed at empowering young individuals w** want to build a credible and professional career in the hair and beauty industry.

The Alliance Girls High Sc**ol alumnus **lds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University.

After graduating with a bachelor of education degree from KU, her first job was teaching Business, English and Office management at Kianda Secretarial College, which would later be subsumed by Strathmore University.

“I was earning Ksh20,000,” she told Daily Nation d****g an interview in August 2016.

As per the latest director’s renumeration by Liberty Kenya, she could stand to earn close to Ksh1 m***ion for being on the board.

She has also served on the boards of Pacis Insurance and Rwanda’s Crystal Ventures Limited.

Ogallo has also been head of training of Africa Online, the Nairobi based internet service provider that offers internet access and operates in ten African countries.
