An 87-year-old woman in Kwale County was cut to death by unknown assailants yesterday during a goat robbery, the police said.

The victim, whom the police only identified as an elderly woman from Mwololo Village, was killed after robbers wielding a machete invaded her home in the dead of the night.

“In the abominable incident reported by the village chairperson, the elderly woman was found lying dead on her bed with multiple cuts suspected to have been inflicted by a machete, and her only goat stolen by yet-to-be-identified violent robbers,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced.

Police are looking for two or more people in connection with the crime and are trying to seek information from the public through hotline 0800 722 203 to find leads as investigations continue.

“DCI detectives based at Lungalunga have since taken over the matter and are jointly with Mwereni Location authorities combing the area for leads to her killers,” said DCI.

As detectives went in and out of the village today, local residents complained that the neighbourhood was no longer safe and quiet.
