Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has been arrested again by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives in a 2am raid on his Muthaiga home.

The former Mumias Company CEO is under investigations for alleged corruption during his tenure as governor.

The Daily Nation reported that the detectives were looking for cash and documents related to a corruption case that Kidero is currently facing.

Reports also indicate that the detectives left the home at 11:30am with the former governor for Integrity Centre before proceeding to Kidero’s Westlands office which they ransacked for cash and documents.

This is the second time that Kidero is being arrested; on August 8 he was arraigned in court where he pleaded not guilty to accusations of abuse of office, money laundering, bribery, conflict of interest and failure to protect public property.

While speaking to journalists, Kidero described his arrest as “pure harassment”.

“They arrested me in August. We have been to court twice. They have not been able to mount a serious case against me. This is witch hunt because they are arresting me without evidence,” said Kidero.
