Kenya Power Announces Planned Outage Wednesday

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a planned power outage that will affect residential and business customers in some parts of Nairobi, Migori and Siaya counties and Gitaru and Kanyariri in Kiambu on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

In all the affected areas, the scheduled maintenance outages will start at 9:00 AM ending 5:00 PM, except for Migori, where customers will have electricity restored at 4:00 PM in its parts of Gogo Primary School, Macalder Center, Okenge, Got Koule, Got Olango, Got Kwach, Sibuoche, and Midida which will experience power interruption.

In the Nairobi region, Githurai 45, Co-op Bank, Naivas, Kingdom Sacco, Mt Kenya, Kimbo, MwanaMukia, Clanne Academy, Kwa DO, Army Barracks, parts of Clay City and Mwihoko, Farmers’ Choice, Kassmatt and Fountain Junior are the areas that will stay without power during that time that KPLC will be carrying out scheduled maintenance.

In the Gitaru and Kanyariri areas of Kiambu County, it is Kanjeru, Chura, Gikuni, Nyathuna, Rukubi, Ruku and adjacent customers in its nearby neighbourhoods.

In Siaya County, the parts that will experience the temporary interruption of electric services include Mbaga Mission, Mbaga Girls, Nyachwinya, Futro, Mulaha and Lwala Kaor.

Different factors cause power interruptions, including weather, vegetation patterns, and utility practices. However, these planned outages and maintenance help keep your lights on and enable Kenya Power to provide safe and reliable services.
