 Justin Mollel is the new EABL Chief Finance Officer

Justin Mollel, a Tanzanian  National, is the incoming Group Chief Finance Officer at East African Breweries Limited(EABL), with effect from 1 May 2026, replacing incumbent Risper Ohaga, who moves to Apollo Insurance as the new Chief Executive Officer(CEO).

Justin is a seasoned and experienced financial and business executive with over 15 years’ experience working in finance and leadership roles for both listed and non-listed entities.

Justin brings onboard a broad skillset spanning from strategy, business performance management, financial and statutory reporting, risk and change management, auditing, and regulatory matters. He has been involved in turnaround and rapid high growth businesses operating in a highly volatile and competitive business environment.

Justin is currently the Finance Director of Diageo Ireland where he has built a reputation for delivering business growth strategies, managing complex financial operations and continuously transforming processes for business success.

He was previously the Finance Director at Guinness Ghana and Serengeti Breweries Limited in Tanzania where he played key roles in shaping both companies’ financial strategy and performance.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting both from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Justin is a Certified Public Accountant and a registered member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) of Tanzania.

The Board takes this opportunity to congratulate Justin on his appointment and wish him the best as he takes on this new role.

 

Over a year ago, EABL made new changes to its board that saw the resignation of John Musunga as a Director of the Company with effect from 18th March 2025.

John had served as a Director since July 2023.  He is credited for his vibrant, and insightful contributions in the deliberations of the Board as well as the Corporate Governance Committee meetings, and his exemplary commitment to consumers and the community.

The Board of East African Breweries PLC also picked Ms. Lorna Benton’s appointment as a Non-Executive Director, effective 18th March 2025.

Lorna has been the Group Performance & Reward Director at Diageo PLC, a role she assumed in April 2023. She previously led Global Reward for WPP PLC and Compass Group PLC, holding senior executive positions.

In addition, Ms. Benton serves as an Independent Member of the Remuneration Committee of the Rugby Football Union. A seasoned FTSE 10 Global Reward Director, Lorna’s expertise spans M&A, employee relations, performance management, and diversity & inclusion.

She has successfully led high-performing teams in matrix structures, leveraging her results-driven leadership to foster strong partnerships across diverse industries and cultures.
