The highly anticipated 18-hour concert celebrating 18 years of M-PESA’s impact to financial inclusion and innovation has been hailed as an overwhelming success. With an impressive turnout of over 12,000 people and a star-studded lineup of over 35 performing artists accompanied by a crew of 211 people, the event exceeded all expectations, solidifying Safaricom’s role as the biggest supporter of the Kenyan creative economy.

Held at Uhuru Park, the M-PESA at 18 Concert was an electrifying celebration of the evolution of M-PESA and a ‘thank you’ to all its customers for their contribution towards getting M-PESA to where it is. Security was a top priority for the event and the deployment of over 800 trained security personnel and the provision of discounted transport to Uhuru Park ensured the safety and comfort of all attendees.

The concert also played a crucial role in supporting local businesses, by partnering with 30 vendors, getting an opportunity to sell food, drinks, apparel, and other services to the attendees. Additionally, Safaricom collaborated with over 10 agency partners who deployed over 800 resources to bring this concert to life, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success.

The M-PESA 18 Concert was a showcase of Kenya’s vibrant entertainment scene, featuring performances by the biggest names in the industry across various genres. The night climaxed with an incredible 30-minute fireworks display.

As M-PESA continues to evolve, the success of this event highlights Safaricom’s unwavering commitment to making a lasting impact on the economy and Kenyan people’s lives.
