Huduma Centre GPO will resume operations on Monday, August 17, The Ministry of Public Service announced on Saturday.
However services will be offered on appointment in a bid to reduce traffic and time spent by queuing at the centre.
“Starting Monday, August 17, 2020, you will be required to book an appointment before visiting Huduma Centre GPO Nairobi,” the Ministry said in a statement.
“To book an appointment, visit www.hudumakenya.go.ke, select book appointment and follow the steps on how to book an appointment for the desired service(s),” the statement read.
However, Kenyans will not need to book appointments to receive services in the other 4 centres within Nairobi City or 51 centres across the country.
The Ministry halted operations at all Huduma Centres across the country temporarily on July 14 to allow fumigation of all centres following a spike of COVID-19 cases in the country.
“Taking into account the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Nairobi in the past week and the high number of customer traffic we are experiencing we will be temporarily closing Nairobi Huduma centre for fumigation, We will start with Huduma Centre GPO on 14,” the Ministry said at the time.
As of Saturday evening, Kenya’s case load stood at 29,849 with 15,970 recoveries while 473 people have lost their lives to the virus.
