Yesterday evening, at around 7 o’clock, a fire incident was reported at Moi Girls High School in Nairobi.

Dozens of firefighters worked to put out the blaze at one of the dormitories. The fire started near the top floor of the multi-storey building and spread upwards, severely damaging a significant portion of the girls’ boarding house, the full capacity of which remains unconfirmed.

The Kenya Red Cross reported that the Nairobi City County fire brigade has successfully contained the fire, and thankfully, no casualties have been reported.

All students have been safely accounted for.

Moi Girls High School has a history of fire incidents, including a tragic dormitory fire in 2017 that claimed the lives of 10 students.
