An image posted on X (formerly Twitter) claiming to be of Nairobi city is false.

The image was posted on X by a user using the handle @h_nyondo, claiming that the image was of Nairobi City, Kenya.

“This is not California in USA. This is Nairobi city in Kenya,” the user captioned the image.

Twitter post

Business Today has investigated the claim and found it to be false.

A reverse image search on Google shows that the image is of Jakarta, the economic, cultural, and political hub of Indonesia, and not Nairobi.

Situated on the northwest island of Java, Jakarta is the largest and the current capital city of Indonesia.

The image is a screengrab from an Instagram reel posted by Jakarta-based professional photographer Ari Wibisono on June 27, 2023. Wibisono also posted a similar video on January 17, 2023.

The road in the picture and the video is of Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto (Gatot Subroto Avenue), one of Jakarta’s major roads, which runs from Dirgantara statue in South Jakarta and ends at Slipi, Central Jakarta.

An image post on X claiming that the photo is of Nairobi city is, therefore, false.
