Employee of the year wins car for being ‘self driven’ at work

Employee of the year awards vary from company to company. One such winner described by the firm she works at as “self-driven” was granted a vehicle to drive away with.

During the Username Investments Employee of the Year Awards for the 2018/2019 financial year, the firm awarded 10 prizes to different staff members, including holiday packages and various electronics.

The grand prize was a Toyota Axio, awarded to Dorina Mirembo who works on the Username Investments sales team.

Emerging as the overall winner of the Employee of the Month awards, Dorina was described as “a self-driven heroine, industrious and confident leader who has led the Sales Department with wisdom and humility.”

“Her performance every month is not in doubt to all. Her hard work, outstanding performance and self-drive remains unmatched,” said Joseph Gitonga, Director of Sales & Marketing at Username Investments.

Dorina received the new car by saying, “I am humbled by this win, thank you Username Management for this recognition.”

She also thanked her fellow Sales Team members for their support and team work.

The real estate firm hosted the annual internal human resource program employee awards to recognise some of its staff.

Dubbed Thamini Awards, the gala event seeks to value its employees, as per the English translation for the Swahili word, “thamini”.

“At Username Investments, we have a culture of appreciating our staff members more often,”  said Username Investments chief executive Reuben Kimani.

The Toyota Axio, which was the grand prize, sat along other prizes which included a fully paid holiday for two to Thailand,a fully paid holiday for two to Dubai, various fully paid holidays to Mombasa, various prices of fridges, 50-Inch LED HD smart TVs, smartphones and shopping vouchers.
