Credit Bank announces plans to support local entrepreneurs

Credit Bank has announced plans to support hundreds of youths over Kenya Entrepreneurship Trade and
Development Conference (KENCTAD), which will be held on March 1 and 2 in Nairobi.

Through its Entrepreneurship hub (E-hub Club), Credit bank is eyeing on reaching out to hundreds of SMEs through its capital support segment.

Credit Bank Head of Business and Marketing Pamela Mutembei said the lender is keen to the align its goals with KENCTAD.

“I believe such a setup is quite effective and aligns with our mission at Credit Bank quite well; the mission being transforming the socialeconomic welfare of our people. This is why the Bank has partnered with KENCTAD on this mission,” said Mutembei.

According to FSD Kenya ,a vibrant and expanding small business sector can be a major catalyst of
inclusive growth but small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have a difficult time accessing the
financial services that can fuel that growth.

Mike Otieno, who is one of the top consultants in Nairobi and a member of E-hub, said the forum has been very instrumental in helping him understand his business challenges.

“I have enjoyed the trainings, the networks and linkages received,” he said.

The hub is an entrepreneur network that was founded in 2016 with the mandate of addressing the challenges that SMEs face today. The E-Hub’s mandate will be to stimulate SMEs growth through acceleration activities, strategic advice and access to capital.

The KENCTAD conference will emphasise the role of the private sector in the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems in sub-Saharan Africa.

The conference is based off of our entrepreneurial platform, The Kenyan Entrepreneur; which in itself is designed to connect the three arms of any sound entrepreneurial ecosystem such as Government, Academia and the Private Sector. The five has already held five conferences in partnership with the government and various corporates.

This year’s edition will focus on the ever challenging field of trade within the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
