Kenyans on Twitter are cheekily congratulating governors for misappropriating resources, failing to fulfill their campaign pledges and generally for incompetence.
#CongratulationsGovernor is currently the top trending hashtag in Kenya. Among those who are receiving the flak is Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Okoth Obado (Migori), Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) and Ferdinand Waititu.
The censure comes as the latest report by the Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo detailed how resources devolved to the 47 county governments was misappropriated or left unutilised yet governors have been demanding for more funds from the National Treasury.
Only Kakamega’s Wycliffe Oparanya received accolades for progress made in improving infrastructure in the western Kenya town.
