Charles Mwangi resigns from Tesla Motors

The Senior Director Engineering of Tesla Motors, a Kenyan national Eng Charles Mwangi has resigned from the post.

Tesla Motors is an American Automotive Company specializes in electric car and solar panel manufacturing owned by billionaire Elon Musk an engineer and technology entrepreneur.

In his statement, Eng Mwangi said, “After slightly over 6 years, I have decided to leave Tesla. My time at Tesla has been one of the most enriching and fulfilling experiences in my life. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside the world’s most talented and resilient people, in pursuit of a worthy mission.”

“To my Tesla colleagues. It is amazing how much progress we’ve made. It has been a grueling journey, but definitely one worth making. I will continue cheering you on from the sidelines. Your success is truly the World’s success,” he added.

Speaking to Business Today, Mr Mwangi revealed that he was not running from the company rather he is going towards another opportunity to change the world in a positive way.

“I am running towards an opportunity to join a start-up with a compelling human mission and a world-class team,” he said.

Mr Mwangi is set to join a different industry, a Startup under the radar, with a world-changing human mission on the global scale.

Engineer Mwangi, an alumnus of Strathmore High School (1994-1997) describes himself on LinkedIn platform as an “Engineering Leader with substantial expertise in results-oriented leadership in a fast-paced company, Product development for manufacturability, Manufacturing Process development, and New Product introduction. First-hand experience in recruiting and developing a first-class technical team while maintaining world-class high standards.”

After three years of studying civil engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Eng Mwangi transferred to  Tennessee State University in the US where he graduated with a bachelors in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

The rich-experienced engineer has previously worked at Toyota Motors and Nissan Corporation before joining Tesla Motors where he raised in ranks steadily from manufacturing engineer to the senior director engineer.
