Capital FM’s Alex Nderi alias DJ Lithium has allegedly committed suicide while at work.

According to reports, the DJ Lithium wrote a suicide note before taking rat poison and sleeping away in the washrooms.

Colleagues who found the unconscious DJ Lithium tried to resuscitate him unsuccessfully, before rushing him to NairobiĀ  Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The 34-year-old DJ also deleted all his social media accounts before committing suicide.

ā€œWe understand that he swallowed poison in his office after a series of events,ā€ said Kilimani police boss Muturi Mbogo.

According to sources, DJ Lithium had a series of family issues, that could have pushed him to commit suicide.

Police have visited the scene and picked the poison and other evidence as investigations into the incident go on.

DJ Lithium hosted the Club Capital show, every Friday from 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM and on the Jam Fridays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

He also doubled up as a producer on Capital FM.

ā€œAlex was a great addition to the larger Capital FM team, encompassing great talent as a dj, producer and possessed an interesting ā€right wingā€ sense of humour,ā€ Danny Munyi, Capital FMā€™s Programmes Director said.

ā€œTo honour him we will celebrate him for the passion he had for this company, his direct breakfast team, his fellow mixxmasters and cherish the moments we shared with him.ā€
