Azuri Technologies, a provider of pay-as-you-go-solar power has patnered with APA Insuarance to provide HospiCash, a low-cost micro-insurance product for Azuri solar power customers across Kenya.
By adding the optional HospiCash service to their pay-as-you-go home solar solution, Azuri customers are set to benefit from the cover in the event they are hospitalised. Hospicash will also cover funeral expenses up to Ksh 10,000 upon death of the insured paid to a named beneficiary.
Customers who are unable to work due to being hospitalised can claim up to Ksh 1,000 per day.
Speaking during the official launch of the HospiCash at the APA headquarters in Nairobi, Mr. Ashok Shah Garth expressed his delight at the partnership saying that it will allow customers to concentrate on full recovery rather than worrying about the loss of income from being hospitalised.
“We are delighted to patner with APA to further Azuri’s vision of providing consumers across Africa with products and services that have the power to truly change and improve lives.” said Mr Garth.
Apollo Group’ s CEO Ashok Shah said that off-grid consumers have been traditionally under served by insurance providers because of the relative difficulty of accessing specific insuarance covers.
“The partnership with Azuri provides a means to open up a range of financial inclusion offerings to this important customer base. APA Insurance is committed to providing insurance to all income groups in Kenya.” said Mr Shah, Apollo Group owns APA insurance.
Azuri’s HospiCash cover is being rolled out nationwide and will be available to all Azuri Quad and Azuri solar TV customers.
