In her remarks, Dr Ngugi, highlighted the importance of inclusion of non-state actors in the policy development and governance ecosystem. Dr Ngugi indicated that the anticipated APRM Network of non-state actors heightened her attention to the relevance of inclusion in processes such as the Africa G20 Framework which KIPPRA is intimately engaged in developing.

Dr Ngugi also highlighted the significance of non-state actor engagement in the APRM process of assessing the four thematic areas as critical for enhancing the attainment of both governance and development goals on the continent

The primary goal of the Network of Non-State Actors in Africa is to provide an interactive platform and database for dissemination of research that is derived from experts and work by practitioners in order to inform APRM processes as well as train non-state actors. The network also serves a platform for discourse, analysis and sharing of lessons, novel developments, and trends within governance in Africa.

Key objectives of the Network include building a community of research institutes and think-tanks committed to strengthening AU members’ integration and socio-economic transformation in order to improve the quality of life of African citizens.
