Well it seems Coronavirus prevention measures will be taken into the bedroom.
Steamy sessions will now need to be had with a piece of clothing, a facemask, according to Canada’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Theresa Tam who says that might be the only way for a partner not to contact COVID-19 from their better half.
Dr. Theresa Tam said in a statement there is little chance of catching COVID-19 from semen or vaginal fluid, but sexual activity with new partners does increase the risk of contracting the virus, particularly if there is close contact like kissing.
“Like other activities during COVID-19 that involve physical closeness, there are some things you can do to minimize the risk of getting infected and spreading the virus,” she said.
The doctor advised couples to skip kissing, avoid face-to-face closeness, wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose, and monitor themselves and their partners for symptoms ahead of any sexual activity.
“The lowest risk sexual activity during COVID-19 involves yourself alone,” she added.
She further stated that Canadians can find ways to enjoy physical intimacy while safeguarding the progress the country made in containing COVID-19.
This comes even as Kenya reported 212 more COVID-19 cases on Thursday from 3,937 samples tested in the 24 hours preceding the announcement, taking the country’s caseload to 34,705.
From the 212 cases, 14 were foreigners while the rest were Kenyans.
The distribution of the cases was listed as: Nairobi (96), Mombasa (21), Busia (10), Kiambu (11), Uasin Gishu (9), Laikipia (9), Taita Taveta (8), Narok (8), Machakos (7), Nakuru (7), Kilifi (6), Lamu (6), Kajiado (4), Bomet (2), Bungoma (1), Kericho (1), Kwale (1), Migori (1), Murang’a (1), Nyeri (1), West Pokot (1) and Meru (1).
