KCB Mvita Branch Temporarily Closed as Staffer Tests Positive for COVID-19

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) was forced to temporarily shut down its Mvita Branch in Mombasa on Tuesday after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The affected staff who were working with him moved into self-quarantine and the bank has provided the necessary resources to ensure that they receive counseling on their safety and wellbeing.

The branch has since been temporarily closed for 3 days with the approval of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to enable immediate cleaning and disinfection of the premises.

“Our priority remains safeguarding the safety and well-being of all our staff, customers and other stakeholders during these difficult times.” said KCB Group Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Joshua Oigara.

“As the fight against this pandemic continues, we have taken several precautionary measures internally, in line with the guidelines issued by government agencies. We continue to provide support to staff and their families during this period of the pandemic” he added.

The bank is encouraging customers to access services using digital channels including— Mobile banking, KCB-MPESA, Vooma and Internet Banking—or other alternative banking touchpoints such as KCB Mtaani agents, Cash recyclers, ATMs, Cash Deposit Machines.

Customers have been advised to seek services at alternative KCB branches in close proximity to the Mvita branch.
