Mutahi Ngunyi slams KOT for calling for his arrest

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has shot back at Twitter users for trending hash tag #ArrestNgunyiForNYSFraud .

Social media users kept the hash tag going all day and asked IG Joseph Boinnet to arrest Ngunyi after his admission of an excess payment from the National Youth Service.

But Ngunyi said via Twitter on Friday that “a country cannot be run by “Twitter-prenuers” – hired ‘Mukoras’ to pimp negativity.”

He asked why people hired to taint his name were reacting to his “good deed”.

“Why is my good deed met with acid pessimism. Am I stupid? What is wrong with doing the right thing?” he posed.

“And what is wrong with having a lot of money? I am a Kikuyu. It is natural.”

Kenyans on Twitter had called for Ngunyi’s arrest for admitting that the NYS paid him an excess of at least Sh11 million.

Ngunyi said in a letter to the Public Service CS dated July 29 that his auditors have come across some Sh11,875,000 paid to his company, called the Consulting House.

The analyst said on Thursday that his company was ready to refund the money immediately and asked CS Sicily Kariuki how to go about it.

But social media users have not taken his admission lightly; some have linked him to fraud at the National Youth Service.

Auditor General Edward Ouko had in June raised the red flag, and placed the figure at Sh12.5 million. But Ngunyi said the amount was a little lower than that.
