Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars defender, Joash Onyango, has decided to enter the African Cup of Nations in style. The 26 year old opted for a vintage look ahead of the competition as he has dyed his beards white.

Playing at AFCON is a dream to many African footballers and Joash realizes this so he chose to make his appearance one to remember.

The Gor Mahia defender has taken the path of other Africans players among them – El Hadji Diouf of Senegal and Rigobert Song of Cameroon – who have displayed the same style in previous editions of the competition.

Diouf and Song made the finals of the competition in 2002 when they donned the white-beard look so maybe Joash might bring the charm to Harambee Stars.

Joash’s new look has left tongues wagging with Kenyans expressing their thoughts on it. His club Gor Mahia was proud of him as seen by their tweet telling fans not to confuse him with someone else.

Kenyans had previously joked that Joash did not look his age but now he looks even older. He was, however, born in 1992 which indeed makes him 26. His new look has spurred discussions on social media with Kenyans giving their opinion on his appearance.

Joash is a key man in Migne’s defence and his fans call him ‘The Wall’. His defensive skills will be put to test when he meets one of the World’s best attackers including the likes of Riyadh Mahrez and Sadio Mane. Harambee Stars are set to travel to Egypt today (Tuesday) after they finished their 3 week training camp in France.
