Burger King opens its first drive thru in Kenya

Kenyans who love burgers can now dig their teeth into Burger King meat patties from a fifth location within the country.

The American food chain franchise has added a branch that will be located at Lavington’s new Shell petrol station convenience retail centre. The new branch is intended to target the Lavington neighbourhood as well as the greater Westlands environs.

Additionally, the Lavington branch will also provide the first drive-thru service for the franchise in the country, joining the likes of rival food chains KFC and Chicken Inn who also provide the service at select outlets.

During the launch event, operations manager Cornelius Muhati said that the company has prioritised its expansion agenda as part of its effort to strengthen its presence in the market.

“We are excited by this opportunity to open our newest branch in Lavington,” he said.

Speaking also at the launch event, Vivo Energy Kenya Retail Manager Lena Munuve said the oil marketer which markets Shell products was happy to partner with Burger King.

“We congratulate Burger King on this great milestone. We were elated by their move to partner with us, as we seek to provide more value-added propositions to our customers,” she said.

Burger King is independently owned and operated through a franchise agreement with SIA QSR Kenya LTD, a subsidiary of Servair.

Servair is a catering and logistics provider in France and Africa and also a member of Swiss firm Gate group.

Kenya’s current Burger King restaurants are all located within Nairobi City.

They are at the Hub Shopping Mall in Karen, Centum Investments owned Two Rivers Mall, NextGen Mall on Mombasa Road, TRM on Thika Road and now Lavington.
