Ethiopian Airline bound to Nairobi crashes with 157 on board

An Ethiopain Airline passenger flight Boeing 737 that was bound to Nairobi from Adis Ababa has crashed.

In a statement, the Airline confirmed the accident with reported 149 passengers and 8 crew members on board.

The plane that was expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 10.25 am on Sunday is said to have lost contacts just six minutes after leaving Bole International Airport

“We are currently confirming the details of the passenger manifest for the flight. Staff will be sent to the accident scene and will do everything possible to assist the emergency services,” said the Airline in the statement.

The office Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed sent condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones.

“The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on a regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning,” it said in a tweet.
