Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) League’s side Impala Saracens are mourning after the passing of their fullback Richard Sidindi Akoth, who drowned while swimming at the club’s swimming pool on Monday morning.

Richard was on a solo training session at the club when he, unfortunately, met his fate. Friends and family are in disbelief as many recall having associated with Sidindi only a few hours to his death.
His last involvement for Impala was during their 36-27 victory over Homeboyz on Saturday. He joined Impala from Kisumu RFC but also played for Maseno University while pursuing his degree at the institution.

It is not the first time that rugby has been hit with this blow as on 1st October 2011, JKUAT Cougars lost their Captain James “Dibo” Nyongesa in a similar way after he drowned in a swimming pool in Mombasa during the Driftwood Sevens tournament.

Impala fans and the entire Rugby fraternity in Kenya have lost a devoted sportsman who was famously known by his nickname Real Jadha Power.
