Weekly trading at NSE plunges Sh600 million

An analyst at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). Listed investments firm TransCentury has announced plans to delist from the NSE.

Trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) ticked down this week with 72.5 million shares valued at Ksh2.3 billion transacted against 89 million shares valued at Ksh2.9 billion posted last week.

Safaricom was the week’s biggest mover with 30.9 million shares valued at Ksh807 million changing hands at between Ksh25.90 and Ksh26.90 representing 34.82% of the week’s traded value.

Banking Sector

The Banking Sector had shares worth Ksh824 million transacted which accounted for 35.55% of the week’s traded value.

Equity Group Holdings actively moved 8.9 million shares valued at Ksh377 million at between Ksh 41.30 and Ksh 42.50.

KCB Group stocks adjusted down 3.34% to Ksh42.00 moved 5.3 million shares valued at Ksh226 million.

Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) moved 284,000 shares worth Ksh43 million and closed the week at Ksh151.00.

Energy & Petroleum Sector

The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth Ksh56M transacted which accounted for 2.42% of the week’s traded value.

Kenya Power was the most actively traded counter in this sector with 9.6 million shares valued at Ksh49 million changing hands at between Ksh4.60 and Ksh5.30.

Insurance Sector

The Insurance Sector had shares worth Ksh33.4 million transacted which accounted for 1.44% of the week’s traded value.

Jubilee Holdings moved 32,000 shares worth Ksh13.8 million at a fairly stable price of Ksh426.00.

Investment Sector

The Investment Sector had shares worth Ksh4.3 million transacted which represented 0.19% of the week’s traded value.

Centum moved 118,000 shares worth Ksh3.9 million and closed the week at Ksh32.80.

Manufacturing & Allied Sector

The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth Ksh562 million transacted which represented 24.25% of the week’s traded value.

East African Breweries Limited (EABL) touched a high of Ksh219.00 and a low of Ksh195.00 during the week with shares worth Ksh358 million transacted.

British American Tobacco (BAT) closed the week 4.69% lower to Ksh610.00 moving 316,000 shares worth Ksh201M.

The NSE 20 share index dropped 68.38 points to stand at 2977.02.

All Share Index (NASI) was down 2.93 points or 1.86% to settle at 154.36.

The NSE 25 Share index lost 112.01 points or 2.80% to settle at 3891.17.
