Trading at NSE adjusts up Sh23 million

Trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) ticked up on Thursday with the turnover rising from Wednesday’s Ksh779 million to Ksh802.9 million.

Shares traded stood at 39.6 million against 32 million posted on Wednesday.

The Banking Sector had shares worth Ksh157.8 million transacted accounting for 19.66% of the day’s traded value.

KCB Group actively moved 2.86 million shares valued at Ksh 106 million at between Ksh36.75 and Ksh37.40.

Equity Group Holdings extended the previous day’s gain by 6.17% to close the day at Ksh36.95 with shares worth Ksh44.6 million transacted.

Diamond Trust Bank plunged 2.88% to Ksh152.00 and moved 14,000 shares worth Ksh2.2 million.

The Commercial & Services Sector had shares worth Ksh4 million transacted representing 0.50% of the day’s traded value.

Nation Media Group closed the day 1.19% lower to Ksh62.25 moving 50,000 shares valued at Ksh3 million.

The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth Ksh37.5 million traded and accounted for 4.68% of the day’s turnover.

Kenya Power & Lighting moved 8.9 million shares valued at Ksh35.9 million at between Ksh3.95 and Ksh4.10.

KenGen moved 127,000 shares valued at Ksh893,000 and closed at Ksh7.00.

The manufacturing and Allied sector had shares worth 26.97 million traded and accounted for 3.36% of the day’s traded value.

East African Breweries Limited (EABL) saw 104,000 shares valued at Ksh17 million changing hands at between Ksh163.00 and Ksh170.00.

British American Tobacco (BAT) shares slipped by 6.21% to Ksh680.00 with shares worth Ksh9.5 million realized.

Safaricom continued to excite the market moving 24.9 million shares valued at Ksh573 million changing hands at between Ksh22.40 and Ksh24.00 representing 71.35% of the day’s traded value.
