KCSE kicks off

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) began on November 5 with 664,585 candidates sitting for Mathematics Paper 1 which was the first test.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed and Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Foreign Affairs Ababu Namwamba were in Mombasa County where they jointly supervised the administration of the exam.

The two supervised the issuance of examination material at the Mombasa Sub-County container before proceeding to Mama Ngina, Aga Khan and Shimo La Tewa Secondary Schools where they oversaw the commencement of the exams.

“I guarantee that this exercise shall be free and fair,” said CS Amina after the supervision exercise.

Elsewhere, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) chairperson George Magoha was in Busia County also supervising the administration of the exams while National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich was in Ainakboi, Uasin Gishu County where he opened the KCSE exams container and supervised the disbursement of exam material to different school principals.
