Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe has been barred from presenting news during the entire period of the Monica Kimani murder trial in which she is an accused.
Justice James Wakiaga who is presiding over the case gave the orders barring Maribe from appearing on TV as a news anchor during the trial period or in any way conducting interviews in relation to the case.
The judge however ruled that the order barring her from presenting news is subject to review by the court from time to time.
Maribe was released on tough conditions that will see her put a pause on her TV presenting career before the case is determined.
“The accused shall not read news, comment or participate in any interview directly or indirectly. She shall not read news during the entire period that the case will be heard,” ruled Justice Wakiaga.
She has also been ordered not to communicate or make any contact with any of the prosecution’s witnesses either directly or indirectly.

Maribe will also be required to in the company of her lawyer allow the investigative officer in the case to collect further evidence that may be required including photos before she is allowed back into her residence at Royal Park Estate in Lang’ata Nairobi.
She was released on a a bond of Ksh2 million with three sureties of similar amounts or a cash bail of Ksh1 million with two sureties of similar amounts.
Her fiancé Joseph “Jowie” Irungu was denied bail, with the Justice Wakiaga declaring him a flight risk and a potential danger to witnesses.
“The first accused (Jowie) is alleged to know the scene of the crime very well. I find that it is very likely that he might know the identity of those witnesses and that there is the possibility of interfering with them,” ruled Justice Wakiaga.
Justice Wakiaga also agreed with the prosecution that Jowie might flee since he is well connected in Dubai where he received specialised military training.
“Having considered the evidence that is currently before me, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to allow me to deny the first accused bail. He shall remain in custody until his trial,” ruled the judge.

His application to be released so that he can seek medical treatment was also dismissed as the judge ruled that whenever necessary the court can give orders allowing him to seek medical attention while still in custody.
Irungu will be presented in court for mention after ever 21 days when his health condition shall be assessed.
