One day after announcing an increment in the prices of voice, data and SMS, Telkom Kenya has moved to further its strangehold on the market share by launching the lowest voice bundles across all networks.
In a statement to newsrooms, Telkom on October 23 announced the lowest prices for the three services compared to Kenya’s biggest two telcos by market share, Safaricom and Airtel.
With the announcement, Telkom customers will make voice calls for as low as KSh1.50 cents per minute.
Telkom customers will also be able to make 10-minute voice calls at Ksh19 or Ksh 1.9 a minute, an offer that the telco says will be valid for 24 hours.
In addition, Telkom customers will also be able to make 30-minute voice calls to any network at Ksh 49 or Ksh 1.6 a minute with the offer being valid for 30 days.

Telkom has also moved to lure avid voice callers with the introduction of a Ksh 99 or Ksh 1.5 per minute 66-minute voice bundle which will also be valid for 30 days.
Data bundle users are also set to benefit with the introduction of four new sets of bundles including a Ksh19 daily bundle as well as a Ksh199 thirty-day bundle.
Telkom CEO Aldo Marause says the move has been informed by the need to consistently deliver value to the telco’s customers across the different segments.
“This voice bundle becomes the lowest call bundle to any network in Kenya, ensuring Kenyans no longer have to rely on seasonal offers to get in touch with loved ones or run their businesses, most especially at a time when the Finance Act 2018 has made voice, SMS and data services more costly.” Said Mr. Marause.
Telkom has also invested close to Ksh9 Billion into its network modernization programme in a bid to position its mobile and enterprise businesses as major mobile services in the country.
Mr. Marause also says that the investment will also be used to further strengthen its mobile financial services platform, T-kash.

He said, “We continue to focus on the expansion and enhancement of our network to ensure availability, enhance indoor coverage, expand our 4G Network as well as optimise our 3G Network, to boost our capacity in handling mobile data and voice traffic in response to growing customer demand.”
The CEO also added that the telco’s long term goal is to build a holistic network that provides higher speeds, capacity, quality and reliability.
