Veteran Swahili TV anchor Anne Ngugi has debuted as a presenter of BBC’s popular news programme Dhira ya Dunia.
The veteran TV Swahili news anchor will no longer be on your screens as we had initially indicated. However, her fans will nevertheless be happy to once more connect with her, but this time through her sweet intonation. She went on air on Monday.
Ngugi, formerly of KTN and K24, will co-present the BBC Swahili programme with Dinah Gahamanyi, who has been at the station for nine years. Listeners can bank on a great combination from the two veterans.
Most of Ngugi’s fans greeted news that she had landed a lucrative job with joy given her past struggles including being sacked by Mediamax while five months pregnant with twins and raising a special needs child.
KBC news anchor-cum-reporter Roncliffe Oditi has also joined the British broadcaster, which is strengthening its regional bureau based in Nairobi’s Riverside area.
In the process, BBC has also embarked on massive recruitment of African journalists, especially Kenyans.
