2013 KCPE stars fade four years later

Only three students who were among the top 10 in the 2013 KCPE examination were ranked among the top 100 candidates in the 2017 KCSE exam. In the 2013 primary school examinations, Daphne Otieno, Uniter Riziki and Dorcas Cheruiyot were in the top 10 list.

Again in the 2017 KCSE list, they excelled at number 57, 21 and 74 respectively in the list of top 100. Daphne was the top student in Kisumu County with 444 marks and had tied with Brian Kimutai for number one position countrywide. In the 2017 KCSE, she scored 84.56 points.

However, in KCSE, Kimutai is not among the top 100 students. Riziki was third countrywide.  She scored 442 marks, which earned her a class at Loreto Girls Limuru. In KCSE, she is number 21 countrywide with 85.03 points. Cheruiyot, a former student at Alliance was ninth countrywide. She again came up in the top 100 list with 83.83 points.

Academic Stardom In the list of top 10 KCSE countrywide, two students who were among those who were leading in the counties KCPE list maintained the academic stardom and beat their counterparts who had led nationally. Morara Mogina Defence, was number four in Nyamira County with 423 marks. A student of Pangani girls, she is now number seven.

Onyango Stanley Omondi was number four in Siaya County with 418 marks. He then joined Maranda High in Siaya. He closed the top 10 list with 85.853 marks.

Coast region KCPE star was Junior Mtemwa, in Makueni Felix Robert Boela led and Kirinyaga’s star was Abigael Wairimu. In Uasin Gishu, Daniel Deng was the top candidate, in Kakamega, Sheila Wanjiku led.

In Nairobi, Jonathan Kipkurui was the top KCPE candidate. They however did not feature anywhere in the KCSE top students list. In the Coast region, none of the students who topped in the primary examinations features in the list of those who have excelled this year.
