The NSE (Nairobi Securities Exchange) has been under selling pressure for the past week in what market analysts attribute partly to the upcoming corporate earnings season.

Top on the watch list is Safaricom which is scheduled to release its half year 2027 results this Thursday November 5th 2026.

November is an important month for investors, with several listed companies scheduled to release their Q3 and half-year financial results.

The results season provides an opportunity to assess earnings growth, asset quality, operational efficiency, dividend prospects and management guidance across listed companies.

Institutional and seasoned investors often reduce their exposure ahead of earnings announcements as a portfolio risk-management measure. This does not necessarily mean they are exiting their positions or have lost confidence in the underlying investment thesis.

The objective is to remain invested and retain exposure to potential upside if the results exceed expectations, while maintaining a margin of safety should earnings disappoint or the market misinterpret certain details in the financial statements.

It is essentially a balancing act between participating in positive earnings surprises and protecting capital against downside risks.
