The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) has recorded a sharp increase in domestic parcel deliveries between April and June 2026, as more Express Mail Service (EMS) items and e-commerce shipments moved through its network.

The rise points to changing delivery patterns in Kenya, where online shopping and doorstep services are creating new opportunities for postal and courier operators.

The CA linked the increase to the recovery of EMS services and the expansion of delivery partnerships. The regulator’s sector statistics report covers the period from April 1 to June 30, 2026.

Private courier companies remained the larger players in the domestic parcel market. They handled 3.37 million parcels during the April-June quarter, although the figure was 8.5 per cent lower than the 3.68 million recorded in the previous quarter.

Unlike PCK, private couriers posted annual growth. Their domestic parcel volumes reached 14.42 million in 2025/26, up 9.3 per cent from 13.19 million in the previous financial year.

Traditional mail services continued to decline. PCK’s domestic letter volumes fell by 70.2 per cent year-on-year to 577,694 in 2025/26, compared with 1.94 million in 2024/25.

The contrasting figures highlight the pressure on postal operators to move beyond letters and develop services around parcel handling, online commerce and doorstep delivery in the country today. For consumers and businesses, wider delivery networks could make it easier to send goods across the country, while increasing competition among courier providers.
