Gloria Sekeiyan, Khalwale’s wife, laid to rest in Ikolomani Constituency

Gloria Sekeiyan, wife of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who died after collapsing at home, has been buried in Ikolomani Constituency

Khalwale, who recently joined the Linda Mwananchi movement, said Sekeiyan suffered a “heart attack” before her death.

“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” he said on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Sekeiyan was found dead inside her residential house in Malinya village, Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County.

Her funeral service was conducted by the Catholic Church, with not only family members, but also friends, political leaders and residents gathering to pay their final respects.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula represented the government, and President William Ruto even after Khalwale publicly requested the President to skip the ceremony just to prevent disruption.

“William Ruto asked me to send coordinates for his plane to land. I told him through his PA, Farouk Kibet, that when someone is bereaved, you do not need to ask them to send you landing coordinates. I asked him that I want the burial service of my wife, the mother of my kids to be, as nice as this, that he should not come,” Khalwale said.
