The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has changed the company responsible for managing its shareholder records, appointing Image Registrars Limited as its new share registrar in a move aimed at improving services for investors and modernising shareholder support.
The appointment, which took effect on August 1, 2026, replaces EFS Registrars Limited. The Exchange announced the change publicly on Thursday, August 6, saying the transition forms part of its broader efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of shareholder services.
According to the NSE, the handover has been carefully managed to ensure that shareholders continue receiving services without interruption.
“The change of registrar is intended to enhance the delivery of share registration and shareholder services,” the Exchange said, adding that the transition had been planned to guarantee continuity and minimise disruption.
With the new arrangement now in place, Image Registrars Limited will oversee all shareholder-related services on behalf of the Exchange. These include processing share transfers, handling the transmission of shares following the death of a shareholder, updating investor records, responding to dividend enquiries and providing general shareholder support.
The NSE assured investors that the appointment of a new registrar will not affect their investments or ownership rights in any way. Shareholders will continue holding the same number of shares and retain all their existing entitlements.
“Shareholders are advised that this change does not affect their shareholding, ownership rights or entitlements in the company,” the Exchange said.
The bourse also directed shareholders to submit future enquiries and requests to Image Registrars Limited, which will now serve as the main point of contact for investor services.
A share registrar plays an important role in the capital markets by maintaining accurate records of shareholders, processing changes in ownership, issuing dividend information and ensuring investors receive timely communication from listed companies. Efficient registrar services are considered essential in improving investor confidence, especially as more Kenyans embrace equity investments.
The appointment comes at a time when the NSE is enjoying one of its strongest periods in recent years. Earlier this week, the Exchange crossed the Ksh 4 trillion market capitalisation mark for the first time since its establishment, reflecting rising share prices and growing investor participation across the market.
The milestone has been viewed as a sign of renewed confidence in Kenya’s capital markets after several challenging years. Improved corporate earnings, increased foreign investor interest and stronger participation by local investors have contributed to the market’s recent performance.
NSE Chief Executive Officer Frank Mwiti has recently noted that investor confidence has continued to improve, supported by favourable market conditions and increased activity from both institutional and retail investors.
The appointment of Image Registrars Limited is expected to complement these gains by offering shareholders more efficient services as the Exchange continues implementing measures aimed at strengthening Kenya’s capital markets.
The NSE Board thanked shareholders and other market participants for their continued confidence in the Exchange, expressing optimism that the new registrar will deliver reliable and high-quality services. As the market continues expanding and attracting new investors, the Exchange says improving shareholder experience remains one of its key priorities in supporting the long-term growth of Kenya’s investment landscape.
