Kenya Airways has appointed Mr. Kiprono Kittony, Mr. Chris Diaz, Prof. Winnie Iminza Nyamute and Dr. David Ndii to its Board of Directors. Kittony is the new KQ Board of Directors Chairman, replacing Michael Joseph who has since retired from the position.
Kiprono Kittony is a leading Kenyan business figure, currently serving as Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Renowned for revitalising the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, he has also chaired and co-founded several major organisations, including CreditInfo CRB Kenya, Mtech Limited, Betway Kenya, and Radio Africa Group.
Internationally, he advises IFHA, a private equity fund in Amsterdam, and serves as Vice Chairman of the World Chambers Federation in Paris, representing Africa.
He is also a director at the Central Depositary and Settlement Corporation. Academically. Kittony holds both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Global Executive MBA from USIU and Columbia University. He was honoured with the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2019 and is known for mentoring youth and engaging in philanthropic initiatives.

KQ has also picked Chris Diaz, as an Independent Non –Executive Director. He is a globally recognised business leader with over 34 years of experience in strategy, board leadership, and integrated business solutions, currently serving as Chairman of Adili Group, Director at ALN Africa and the Middle East, and Group Director at BIDCO Africa.
With strong academic credential, in finance and international marketing, he has driven growth and operational excellence in major African infrastructure and investment projects and played influential roles in aviation through Kenya Airways and Kenya Airports Authority.
Beyond his corporate achievements, he is a fellow of the Marketing Society of Kenya, has contributed to national branding strategies, and is committed to conservation. He is the first African to win the Global Marketing Leader of the Year award and has received the Elder of the Burning Spear honour for community and environmental service. A certified coach and frequent speaker at leading universities, he mentors emerging leaders and has advised nearly 3,000 corporations across Africa.
Kenya Airways has also appointed Prof. Winnie Iminza Nyamute, as an Independent Executive Director. Ms Nyamute is a highly respected Kenyan finance and accounting scholar, currently an Associate Professor at the University of Nairobi. With over three decades of experience, she excels in both academia and professional practice, mentoring students and leading research at various academic levels.
She champions experiential learning, notably guiding the University’s CFA Institute Global Research Challenge teams to regional success. Beyond academia, she plays an influential role in corporate governance, serving on boards such as the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Sameer Africa Plc, and Family Bank Limited, where she has contributed to significant market reforms.
Her professional involvement includes active membership in ICPAK, participation in the FiRe Awards, and financial
training consulting, with a focus on empowering women entrepreneurs. As a Certified Public Accountant and ICPAK Fellow, her career reflects a commitment to excellence, leadership, and service within Kenya’s financial sector.
Kenya Airways Goes for Renowned Economist
KQ has also picked Dr. David Ndii as Non-Executive Director. Dr. David Ndii is the Chairperson of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, serving as the principal economic policy advisor to the president and leading the team responsible for implementing the country’s economic transformation agenda.
With over 30 years of experience, He is recognized as an accomplished economist, author, and strategist. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Nairobi and is a Rhodes Scholar and Eisenhower Fellow.
Dr. Ndii has played significant roles in national economic policy, including leading the Economic Recovery Strategy for Kenya’s NARC administration and advising on the country’s constitutional review process. He has also served as an advisor to the President of Rwanda, consulted for international finance institutions, and held key positions such as Chief Economist at Equity Bank and economist at the World Bank. He is also known for founding the Institute of Economic Affairs (Kenya) and Africa Economics.
The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc said the new board appointments take effect from March 5th 2026.
