KQ Alerts Passengers of Possible Travel Disruptions Amid Workers’ Go-slow

Kenya Airways (KQ) has warned passengers of possible flight delays and cancellations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as aviation workers begin a go-slow, affecting both domestic and international flights.

The airline said the disruptions are linked to air traffic control operations following contingency measures by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) aimed at maintaining safety and service continuity.

“We wish to inform our customers that we are currently experiencing operational delays affecting certain departures and arrivals,” KQ said in a statement.

Passengers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and monitor official communication channels for updates.

The go-slow by aviation workers, organised by the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU), is part of ongoing industrial action over stalled collective bargaining negotiations.

The KCAA has activated contingency plans to ensure that essential air navigation services continue.

For business travellers, the delays are particularly disruptive. JKIA is Kenya’s busiest airport and a hub for regional trade, corporate travel, and tourism.

Kenya Airways said passengers should explore rebooking options via the airline’s mobile app or website and avoid travelling to the airport without confirmed flight information. Airport authorities emphasised that critical aviation safety functions remain operational despite the slower pace of work.
