Nairobi Chapel (Ngong Road) has launched a Ksh150 million fund drive through motorcycle ride, seeking to establish the LOGOs Education Endowment Fund that will help the less fortunate yet deserving students in Kenya.

The LOGOs Scholarship Fund is a social justice initiative of the Nairobi Chapel founded in 2008 and its transition to an endowment fund seeks to establish a sustainable investable asset that “will create a lifelong avenue of helping more students.” Since the establishment of the social initiative, more than 1,035 students in Kenya have benefitted and currently, the initiative supports 232 students annually.

Speaking on a recent Sunday after the launch of the funds drive, Mr Nick Korir, Reverend at Nairobi Chapel, Senior Pastor and an adventure motorcyclist, noted that the funds drive will be supported by a six-month ride dubbed “Around Africa on a Motorcycle Trip” which will cover 40,000km in 40 countries. The ride aims to raise awareness on and help mobilise well-wishers to contribute.

“Over the years, we have seen the LOGOs Scholarship initiative making a bigger  impact in our community,” Rev. Korir said, who leads the  Around Africa on Motorcycle team. “However, there are years when we have faced challenges such as not being able support as many students as we would wish. This is why we are launching the LOGOs Education Endowment Fund to help create a sustainable strategy of ensuring more students.”

Mr James WaNjeri, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a beneficiary of the first cohort of the LOGOs program, said the funds drive will ensure continuity of the noble initiative which has allowed him and many others to attain their dreams.

“As someone who has lived the journey of the LOGOs education initiative, I am glad to be part of the team which is actualising the endowment fund, and I am calling upon well-wishers to join this cause. It is very crucial to our goal of giving back to the community and making an impact in our communities,” said Mr WaNjeri.

Ms Shanton Butich, a final year undergraduate student in Co-operative University of Kenya, noted that the LOGOs initiative has enabled her to undertake her secondary and campus education.“I am happy for this launch since it will go on to help more students. As a beneficiary, I really appreciate those who made this journey possible for me and I will live to tell the story of what it means to give for social impact.”

The Around Africa on Motorcycle will make a historic trip around the Coastline of Africa in six months from December 2024 to May 2025. Bikers from different countries in Africa will ride alongside the core riders in their respective countries in solidarity and celebration of the African Biker Community.
