Jahmby Koikai, the longtime reggae MC and media personality, has d**d.
Jahmby p*********y June 3 at age 38 following complications due to endometriosis, a d*****e she had been battling since she was 13.
Endometriosis occurs when cells from the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other areas of your body, causing pain, heavy vaginal b******g, especially between periods, and problems with fertility.
Jahmby, born Mary Njambi Koikai on January 24, 1986, was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her d***h at the Nairobi Hospital just weeks after launching an urgent plea for her fans and willing members of the public to give her b***d.
“Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the Pioneer Ward Nairobi hospital, and I kindly need B***d O positive. Kindly asking for b***d donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” she wrote on her Instagram stories in early May.
The d***h of the pioneering female reggae MC, with a stint in several Kenyan media stations, among them QFM, NTV, NRG and Metro FM, was announced by Philip Etale, the Director of Communications at ODM, first on X;
“I am gutted beyond expression. Fare thee well, my friend, sister and just best friend, Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai. That beautiful smile, the phone calls we had talking about many things, including our days at KBC back in the day, your mastery of the Maragoli language and the jolly moments you shared with those you knew. You had a big family, just a big one. Go well, my friend.” Etale posted.
Before her demise, Jahmby worked with numerous top reggae artists, including Jamaican singer Buju Banton, when he visited Nairobi in 2020.
