Information, Communication & Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS)Eliud Owalo has appointed David Mugonyi as the new Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).
Mugonyi, who is the current Head of the Presidential Communication Service, replaces Ezra Chiloba who resigned in October.
“Reference is made to the above and a letter from the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service (Ref: SH/GM/22) dated 19th December 2023 (endorsed) conveying approval for the appointment of Mr David Mugonyi as the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya,” Owalo said.
Mugonyi previously worked for the Nation Media Group.
He also worked as the head of the parliamentary press unit before leaving to work as Ruto’s communications director at the Office of the Deputy President in 2013.
“Congratulations to my colleague David Mugonyi on his appointment as the Director General of the Communications Authority. My best wishes for your new assignment,” State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed wrote.
Mugonyi holds a Master’s Degree in International Journalism from City University in the United Kingdom.
He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Nairobi.
He has a Diploma in Mass Communication from the same institution.
