Local cement manufacturer, Savannah Cement, has expressed its corporate commitment to continue providing quality products to guarantee on-time completion of the Standard Gauge Railway project.
The firm’s cement products have been used in the freshly constructed Standard Gauge Railway project, providing a concrete foundation for the national engineering monument.
In the first SGR Phase, Savannah Cement products were used for concrete works on the Makindu-Kambu section, Emali Section and at the Nairobi Terminus (Syokimau Station) architectural masterpiece.
Speaking in Mombasa early this morning ahead of the Madaraka Express maiden journey to Nairobi, Savannah Cement Managing Director, Mr Ronald Ndegwa said the firm was proud to have been a project partner in the first phase (Mombasa-Nairobi) of the project.

The firm, whose cement products were used on several sections of the SGR project including the Nairobi Terminus, he said, is committed to continue powering the national infrastructure development ideals,
Savannah Cement has been retained for the second phase (Nairobi-Naivasha) with a renewed corporate commitment to ensure the on time delivery of quality consistent products to the project contractor.
“At Savannah Cement, we are delighted to have played a key role in helping this national dream come true through the consistent provision of quality cement products,” Mr Ndegwa said.

As part of the firm’s business development programmes, Savannah Cement has been actively pursuing supply opportunities to the local and regional infrastructure development projects. Backed by a modern eco-friendly production facility, the firm has enhanced its corporate sales capacity in response to market demands.
Further, Savannah Cement, is undertaking preparatory works to facilitate the installation of its second grinding plant at its Kitengela manufacturing complex to boost production capacity. The company expects the additional capacity to be in place by late 2018 as it joins other major cement makers in the country looking for additional capacity to satisfy rising local and regional demand.
In addition to mega-projects such as the Outer ring dual carriage road project, Savannah Cement, has also exclusively supplied cement for the construction of Nairobi’s Garden City Mall, JKIA expansion work, the University of Nairobi Towers and the Karuma Dam in Uganda among others.
