A Facebook account bearing the name ‘Hon Aishia Jumwa Katana’ does not belong to the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service, Affirmative Action and Gender Aisha Jumwa.
The account, which has been claiming to offer Inua Jamii loans, has one of Jumwa’s names, Aisha, misspelt. Instead of Aisha, the name is spelt Aishia.
Business Today looked into the account and found it to be fake.
First, CS Jumwa has a verified Facebook page where she regularly posts updates concerning her work at the Ministry.
Jumwa’s official page has over 270,000 followers and contains no information on the purported Inua Jamii Loans.
Jumwa previously served as the Member of Parliament for Malindi Constituency. She was the first Woman Representative of Kilifi County under the 2010 Constitution.
The Fake account states the owner works for Jamii Forums, a social enterprise based in Tanzania, promoting governance, democracy, and accountability, yet Jumwa currently serves as a CS.
Inua Jamii is an initiative under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) and the Ministry of Devolution and ASAL (MoDA) and does not offer loans.
Therefore, the Facebook account bearing the name ‘Hon Aishia Jumwa Katana’ is fake and does not belong to Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service, Affirmative Action and Gender Aisha Jumwa.
